Digital Ally, Inc., which develops, manufactures and markets advanced products for law enforcement applications, is introducing a new, breakthrough handheld LIDAR System for vehicle speed detection. The aptly named LaserAlly is small, lightweight and well balanced, and it offers several feature enhancements relative to currently available competitive products. LIDAR systems have gained popularity because of their ability to pinpoint the speed and direction of a vehicle in single or multi-lane traffic, without regard to traffic congestion. However, the LaserAlly also features a ruggedized enclosure for heavy use that is waterproof for harsh environmental conditions and can withstand drops without needing realignment; anti-jamming technology to defeat even the most advanced ‘jammers’; a 6000-foot maximum acquisition range and 1/3-second acquisition time; unique obstruction and weather modes to cut through branches, glass, adverse weather, etc.; true color 1:1 head-up display and true continuous tracking; 32-hour battery life and the unit is upgradable in the field via a USB port.

In a third-party test that included almost all of the major manufacturer’s LIDAR systems against LIDAR jammers, LaserAlly was the only LIDAR system that the detectors could neither detect nor jam. The ability of LaserAlly to read vehicle speeds even when cars are equipped with LIDAR ‘jammers’ is above and beyond anything currently available on the market. The Institute of Police Technology and Management (IPTM) is a division of the University of North Florida’s Training and Service Institute. Headquartered in Jacksonville, Florida, IPTM is a self-supporting, not-for-profit organization.

IPTM was established in 1980 with a simple yet lasting philosophy: to provide cost-effective, cutting-edge training to the criminal justice community, thus enhancing the quality of service by law enforcement to our communities. For more than 25 years, this basic philosophy has guided IPTM as it has grown into the largest and most varied national law enforcement training institute in the country.

Currently, IPTM conducts over 500 courses to more than 14,000 law enforcement professionals each year. These professionals include operational, supervisory, and command level officers from throughout the United States, the U.S. territories, and numerous foreign countries.

Our courses are designed to improve the skills and abilities of officers and acquaint them with the new technology, theories, and techniques in their fields of interest. Classroom presentations are often coupled with practical, hands-on exercises giving students the opportunity to apply the theories and skills learned in the classroom to situations faced by today’s law enforcement agencies.

The IPTM instructional team consists of professionals who possess a blend of practical law enforcement skills, years of police training experience, and quality academic credentials. The full-time faculty is supplemented by a cadre of highly qualified adjunct instructors who remain as practitioners within the law enforcement community and keep the programs in touch with the modern technology, current trends, and social demands of today’s society.

In addition to our open tuition classes, IPTM courses are also available on a contractual basis. Our on-site contract training can be a cost effective means for obtaining customized instruction that is specifically tailored to the needs of your agency. Visit our website: www.iptm.org

The N-DEx Program is a powerful investigative tool that allows local, county, state, tribal and federal law enforcement agencies to submit and query incident data to make connections between person, places, events, and crime characteristics – linking information across jurisdictions – allowing officers to ‘connect the dots’ between data that is not apparently related. There are zero user fees and allows 24/7 access to information. The IACP, in partnership with the FBI, is delivering a communications and educational outreach program to promote awareness and use of N-DEx. This workshop at the NLETC will discuss openly with the audience the foundation beneath and benefits of sharing information nationally; it is particularly well suited for police executives, criminal analysts, investigators, CSO’s, fusion center staff, and departmental IT/communications personnel and will include a demonstration of the soon to be released INCREMENT 3.

The workshop will convey information sharing needs and law enforcements role to collaborate, document and report crime; discuss benefits and features of N-DEx and process to participate; and discuss current status, participants, and success stories.

The N-DEx Program allows local, state, tribal and federal agencies to securely link and access information across jurisdictions to better solve crimes. Please click the N-DEx logo to be connected with the program website.
